Foremind

It’s a little-known fact that suicide rates among construction workers are way above the national average. In 2023, we established a partnership with national firm Foremind, introducing a comprehensive mental health program tailored for workers on our construction sites. This initiative offers a go-to resource for support, an App that connects workers to a range of online resources or a counsellor – by phone, online, or face-to-face, all confidential and free of charge.

Bob Huddleston Golf Day

JWLand is a proud sponsor of the annual Bob Huddleston Community Golf Day, which is presented by the Burrunju Aboriginal Corporation. Founded by the late Bob Huddleston, the Corporation delivers culturally-appropriate programs to improve the resilience and the wellbeing of the local Aboriginal community. Each year the organisation chooses a different focus for their golf day. In 2024 the primary objective was to raise awareness for diabetes within the Indigenous community.

CEO Sleepout

Since 2023, JWLand Construction has been an active supporter of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, joining other leaders and community members to raise awareness and funds for homelessness. This annual event sheds light on the difficulty of those experiencing homelessness and underscores the importance of addressing this critical issue. Since its inception, the CEO Sleepout has contributed to the ongoing efforts to combat homelessness and create positive change in our communities.

Movember Foundation

Our annual support for Movember began in 2021 and has seen the faces of many JWLand employees transformed by unfamiliar facial hair. The charity fundraiser has a focus on men’s health – particularly on mental health and suicide prevention as well as prostate and testicular cancer. It now has a global footprint and has raised money for more than 1,250 men’s health projects since its beginnings in 2003.

Woden Valley Rams

Research has shown that girls and women who play sports have higher levels of confidence and self-esteem and higher states of psychological well-being. JWLand is supporting female participation in sport by sponsoring Tamsyn Cairns of the women’s Woden Valley Rams rugby league club for the 2024 season. As well as supporting a rising star, this sponsorship creates an avenue for Tamsyn to work in the construction industry in the future should she choose to.

Royals Juniors Rugby

In 2024 JWLand sponsored the Royals Juniors rugby union tour to Fiji. Royals Juniors is the oldest continually operating junior rugby club in the ACT with an emphasis on equity of opportunity. Their Rugby College is a training and pathway development program, aimed at driving excellence in rugby for junior players, both boys and girls and their tour program provides an opportunity for local kids to participate in sports diplomacy and community leadership.
